How To Relax, Your Way

How do you relax? Is it like this woman in the photo?
Honestly, for me? I do it differently! Keep reading for tips on relaxing YOUR WAY!

If you are like me, on the go, working full time, busy, and creative sometimes sitting and pretending to meditate just doesn't cut it. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for meditation or at least I want to be. I have tried for YEARS to get into it. I used to go to writing retreats in the mountains with this amazing woman who lead meditations and I always found myself day dreaming about traveling.
She would talk calmly to us about finding our happy place and mine was always New York City or on a plane, a crowded one or at LAX and then my mind would start planning trips, thinking about finances, and how to take off from work, what it would coast and I would spiral and then, I'd have to pee. Hahaha, it's true.
WHAT DOES RELAXING LOOK LIKE FOR ME?
I love going to the movies, sometimes with my husband, sometimes with friends or even better, by myself. I love that I don't have to talk to anyone and I can lose myself in a story. This is probably the writer in me but this is relaxing for me, it's how I love to do it. It is relaxing for me.
Watching television. I know it's not popular to admit that I love television but I do and it relaxes me. I love watching cooking shows, streaming of old reality shows like America's Next Top Model or Project Runway, and I love current shows, even the stressful ones relax me. I get lost in the show or the story and I'm relaxed.
Shopping, online or at a mall. I love to shop. I do, I admit it. I really love it and it relaxes me to be around people in malls and shopping centers.
Going to a busy airport. It's not so great since security doesn't let you go past security but in the international terminals you can still get a drink, coffee, and just hang out. I love airports so much and for me, they are relaxing.
Fitness like walking or going to the gym, even like Orange Theory or something intense.
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
My tips are:
Do something that you LOVE that makes you forget about the world, and if that is meditation, great! If it's going to see a blockbuster film that's fine too. You do YOU!
Do it at least once a day. Maybe you can't go to the movies once a day but take an hour and do something you LOVE that relaxes you.
What does relaxing mean to you?
Does it mean being quiet and or still? Does it mean forgetting all your troubles and worries?
Is it ten minutes in the car before your kids get in after school? Is it a walk with your dog?
Do what works for you and own it, do it often and enjoy every moment!!
